Dr. Anekstein performed his residency at Assaf Harofeh Medical Center and the Sackler Faculty of Medicine. Between 2002 and 2003, Dr. Anekstein was at the University of Louisville where he was a fellow in the Leatherman Spine Fellowship Program in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He returned to Israel thereafter, and received the post of Head of the Spine Unit at Assaf Harofe Medical Center in 2009. Dr. Anekstein performs both fusion and non-fusion procedures according to the patients’ indications for cervical and lumbar maladies.
Dr. Anekstein has participated in numerous courses including the AO Spine program. He has moved on to serve as an instructor in scientific courses and as an examiner of medical students during their oral board examinations in orthopaedic surgery. He has had podium presentations at many of the leading spine society meetings, including the North American Spine Society Meeting, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, World Spine, Eurospine, and the AO Spine Symposium.
Dr. Anekstein has lectured on a range of topics from complications of scoliosis surgery to the biomechanics of the spinal column. He has won awards from the Israel Orthopaedic Association, Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, the Scientific Committee of the Israeli Medical Associations, the Sackler Faculty of Medicine’s Department of Orthopedics, and the Israel Spine Society. Dr. Anekstein has over 60 publications and presentations to his credit on numerous topics, including motion preservation and the TOPS™ System. He has over 5 years of clinical experience with the TOPS System.
