Mr Bob Chatterjee is a full time Consultant Spinal Surgeon practising in London.

He qualified from Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, London, before undertaking surgical training in Oxford. Awarded a Culyer Foundation Research grant, he wrote his thesis in biomechanics and biomaterials at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore.

After completing orthopaedic specialist training on the UCH rotation, London, he was awarded a RCS fellowship in spinal deformity and degenerative surgery at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospitals and a Neurosurgical Spinal Fellowship at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge.

His clinical and research interests include minimal access spinal surgery, adult deformity surgery and the biomechanics of lumbar fusion. One of his major passions is teaching. His commitments range from lecturing internationally to SpR training on several London teaching programmes.

He is an active member of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons residing on both education and research committees.  He is a spinal advisor to the NHS and is a consultant editor on two periodicals.  Mr Chatterjee reviews spinal articles for several journals. In line with his research interests, Mr Chatterjee holds honorary research contracts at both RNOH, Stanmore and Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals.

He is married to Lisa, a fellow Orthopaedic surgeon. He used to have social interests including golf, tennis, rugby, fine wine and dining. However now he only has time for his two daughters aged six and four.
