He trained in Edinburgh, Sheffield and London in neurosurgery and focused on spinal surgery from the early 1990’s. Since then he has, as a Consultant, almost twenty years’ experience in managing patients with all types of spinal and related conditions, utilising the multi-disciplinary team approach, which he developed in London.

Particular interests are in the maintenance of function for patients, using the most appropriate up-to-date techniques of spinal arthroplasty. To this end he has performed many operations for disc replacement in the cervical and lumbar spine and more recently facet joint replacement in the lumbar spine. Careful on-going audit of his patients has demonstrated good clinical outcomes in the majority, with a high level of patient satisfaction.
